We're looking for a VP of Business Technology & Automation for a (B2C) tech scale-up. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead a lean internal team (~10 FTE) alongside a global partner model, translating business goals into tangible, high-impact technology solutions. You don't care about technology dogma or rigid process for the sake of it. You care about pragmatism, velocity, and delivering clear value.

Core Responsibilities

• Strategic Business Alignment: Partner directly with the C-suite and executive leaders across Operations, Manufacturing, Product, and Finance to build a realistic, business-driven technology roadmap.
• Data, AI & Automation Leadership: Lead and scale our centralized Data, AI, and Automation capabilities. Identify and roll out high-impact, practical AI and automation use cases that save time and eliminate bottlenecks.
• Core Systems & IT Infrastructure: Oversee business systems, workplace tools, enterprise apps (ERP/CRM), networks, and vendor ecosystems to ensure high reliability, security, and scalability.
• Pragmatic Trade-off Management: Continuously balance competing priorities—balancing speed vs. scale, custom builds vs. off-the-shelf tooling, and immediate operational needs vs. long-term architectural stability.
• Lean & Scalable Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and empower an agile internal team (~10 FTEs) while optimizing relationships with external vendors and global managed service partners.
• Security & Governance: Maintain solid cybersecurity, data privacy, and disaster recovery standards across all global locations without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Requirements - VP of Business Technology & Automation

• 10+ years of tech leadership experience, ideally in fast-growing, operationally complex, or B2C scale-up environments.
• Proven track record across Internal Systems, Data, and Automation, with a practical (not purely theoretical) understanding of modern data pipelines, business apps, and AI implementation.
• Strong business acumen & trade-off judgment: Demonstrated ability to manage complex multi-variable decisions across budget, time-to-market, risk, and technical debt.
• Exceptional stakeholder communication: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable choices for non-technical executives.
• Agile, hands-on mindset: You are comfortable zooming out to shape strategy with the CEO and zooming in to unblock delivery with your team.

The offer

This is what we have to offer:

• A base salary between €140.000 and €160.000 a year, plus bonus;
• A role based in Amsterdam with hybrid working (3 days in-office);
