As Director of Digital, your main mission is bringing connected hardware products, apps, and web together into one coherent ecosystem, shaping the experience of what to build next, and reimagining how to do so with modern and AI-native ways of working.
What you'll do
- Hold the overarching experience vision that ties apps, on-device interactions, and web into one coherent, emotionally resonant brand experience.
- Lead the digital organization end to end (app & web platforms), holding UX, product management, and software engineering together as one high-performing team.
- Own the digital and on-device experience of connected products, partnering closely with Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, and Hardware PM, who lead the physical object, the firmware, and the product definition. The Director shapes the experience before hardware is locked.
- Lead the transformation of the software engineering organization, driving engineering excellence, modern tooling, AI-assisted development, and delivery excellence.
- Grow and empower existing PM and UX leaders, raising the bar across all three disciplines while giving each the room to own their vision and craft.
- Help shape the experience of new products and categories as the company expands beyond its core, from early concept through to shipped product.
- Steward the design systems and experience standards that unify interaction and visual language across physical and digital.
- Create the high-trust, low-ego, fast-moving culture where the triad of PM, design, and engineering pushes and pulls as equals.
- Partner closely with Marketing to create a seamless end-to-end customer journey across all touchpoints. While Marketing owns acquisition, CRM, loyalty, membership, and the broader customer lifecycle, the Director of Digital owns the digital product experiences that customers interact with across apps, connected products, and digital touchpoints.
Requirements
- A senior product leader who has held PM, UX, and engineering together, or has led across at least two and can credibly hold all three.
- A leader who carries the commercial and the craft at once—able to make a business case to a CEO and raise the bar on an interaction model in the same day.
- Someone who thinks natively about connected products and the seam between hardware and software, viewing the device and the app as one experience.
- A professional who leads through other leaders—hiring well, growing people, and building the structure a scaling team needs, without losing closeness to the work.
- An innovator who embraces modern product development practices, including the thoughtful use of AI to improve how products are designed, built, and delivered.
- An individual energized by a small, fast company that wins through speed, focus, and invention rather than headcount, who creates clarity and brings people along without relying solely on authority.
- A leader who holds strong opinions lightly, sets a clear vision while diving into detail, and carries a high bar for craft, velocity, and accountability.
Offer
This is what we have to offer:
- A base salary between €120.000 and €145.000 a year, plus bonus;
- A role based in Amsterdam with hybrid working (3 days in-office);
